Our Simply Cinnamon Tincture easily tastes the best of all our products.  We didn’t just open up a cinnamon shaker and pour it into our hemp extract though.

Research and Development:

It took research, trial, and error to form our Cinnamon Tincture.  Actually, our research and development team now makes their own cinnamon bark extract in house.  Per usual, we aim to retain as much quality control as possible. It’s the 4CC way.

It took time to optimize the process since we had never made cinnamon extracts prior.  One of the bigger challenges? Determining how much ethanol separates the cinnamon oil from the cinnamon bark without waste.  We also learned that we the same extraction method that we use for our hemp extract works for cinnamon extract as well.

Delicious AND Nutritious:

Cinnamon flavors many things in just the right way.  That’s why we wanted to provide this new flavor for our customers.  Flavor aside though, cinnamon oil offers many health benefits of its own.  According to the authors of Cinnamon: a Multifaceted Medicinal Plant, “In addition to being an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, antimicrobial, anticancer, lipid-lowering, and cardiovascular-disease-lowering compound, cinnamon has also been reported to have activities against neurological disorders, such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases.”

Where Cinnamon and Cannabis Meet:

Although very different plants, Cinnamon and Cannabis do share certain commonalities.  The differences between the two lie in the compounds that they comprise. Cannabis gives us CBD, THC, CBG, etc.  Cinnamon gives us compounds like cinnamaldehyde and cinnamophilin. They overlap in several places though. Beta caryophyllene, for instance, occurs naturally in both plants.

Just as terpenes do with Cannabis, they also provide the unique flavor and color of cinnamon bark.  Cinnamaldehyde tops the list of terpenes in our cinnamon bark extract. Many think that cinnamaldehyde’s hypotensive properties derive several of cinnamon’s health benefits.

Prognosis for the Future:

Unlike cannabis, researchers have always been free to study cinnamon.  This means that academics have published, and continue to publish new research pertaining to cinnamon all the time!  Even a brief internet search turns up countless scientific publications that demonstrate cannamon’s versatility.  Needless to say, cinnamon bark extract adds more than just flavor… It packs a punch!

We aren’t sure of how synergistic cinnamon bark extract is with our hemp extract.  Ultimately, the desire for a greater variety of products dictated our decision to make a cinnamon tincture.  That being said, adding a touch of this spice to your CBD regimen is likely a good idea.
